Based in Rangiora with members drawn from all over North Canterbury, and increasingly further afield, we have a vibrant club atmosphere catering to riders of all types – mountain bikers, gravel riders, eMTBers and roadies. Club members gain exclusive access to three private forests in North Canterbury through an agreement with Matariki Forests. The Ashley, Okuku and Mt Thomas Forests all provide fantastic riding on dirt and gravel roads with no public traffic, varied terrain, and great scenery.
The club has also built a single track network in the Ashley Forest which has grown steadily over the last few years now offering approximately 14kms of trails. There’s no chairlift or shuttle so you’ll be powering yourself up well maintained forestry roads that border the single track area or up the great climbing tracks provided.
For all day epics and serious mountain rides Mt Grey, Mt Richardson, Mt Thomas, Mt Karetu are nearby, including the amazing Blowhard single track to the top of Mt Richardson, and the well known Wharfedale Track that skirts Mt Oxford. If 1,000m climbs and fast, technical descents are your scene this club is for you.
For road riders there are great rural roads with minimal traffic in areas like Whiterock or Ashley Gorge, as well as other backroads to Oxford, Amberley, Loburn and many more.
We have an excellent club atmosphere with a wide range of skills, fitness levels and riding groups. From more sedate and leisurely riders to highly competitive elite level athletes, NCCC welcomes all and can be a great club for inspired young riders to become highly competitive racers.
Get away from the traffic and crowds, and ride the local hills, mountains and country roads.
